Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum Session! (Japanese: 太鼓の達人 セッションでドドンがドン!, Taiko no Tatsujin: Sesshon de Dodon Ga Don!) is the first Taiko no Tatsujin game for the PlayStation 4. It was released on October 26, 2017 in Japan and Asia regions and November 2, 2018 in North America and Europe regions.
As usual for a Taiko no Tatsujin game on consoles, it comes in either just the game itself or the bundle with TaTaCon controller for the retail version.
Gameplay
The core gameplay is mostly the same as recent Taiko no Tatsujin game releases. Drum Session!, however, includes a new mode: The Session Modes.
In those gameplay modes, player will plays the songs with the 'ghost play' data from other friends in the online-only Friend Session Play mode (PlayStation Plus subscription is not required.) and plays the songs with guest characters in the single-player-only Guest Session Play mode. Unlike other games published by Bandai Namco Entertainment that has online capability, the Friend Session Play mode is compatible across all versions of the game.
Just like the current arcade version, the Extra Extreme notecharts of certain songs are no longer available as separate songs, and only available by pressing the right katsu buttons (On DualShock 4 controller. Button varies depends on the controller setting) or hitting the right rim (On TaTaCon) ten times while selecting the Exterme difficulty. The only exception to this are the DLC songs "Hibike! Taiko no Tatsujin" and "Hikari no Kanata e", which has their Extra tracks available as separate songs due the use of the full version of the songs.
Also included is the online-only Taiko Ranking Match, in which the player is playing against Donders from around Japan (later around the globe as of the game's US and EU releases) and the player's rank will raise if the player win and will drop down if he/she loses a few times. The usual Training performance mode and the new Best Replay performance mode are now available as part of the main Taiko mode instead of separate mode in the main menu.
Many of the customization elements from recent Taiko no Tatsujin arcades, such as title customization, were also introduced. Player can earns the Don kobans by completing the missions listed in the Mission Bingo menu and use them to unlock songs and customize parts.
New to this game is the Kozuchi note, which works similar to the Fuusen balloon note as seens in the mobile games. It also supports local multiplayer up to two players.
With Drum Session!, player can obtain the DLC songs by either purchases the songs or song packs individually (Applicable to any versions) or the online season pass (applicable only to JP and SEA versions of the game) from the PlayStation Store. Note that in US and EU version of the game, songs can be purchased individually.
Starting with this game, the J-POP genre was now renamed to Pops.
The language of the game is automatically set based on the system language on one's PlayStation 4 console, the game will set in English if the console's system language is set to anything other than the supported languages. Note that the supported languages varies depends on the version of the game. The Japanese and Asia release of the game only has Japanese, Chinese, Korean and English languanges available, while North America and Europe release has English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.

Trivia
- Drum Session! is the only game on the PlayStation home console that, for the first time, skipped Sony's 7th-generation home console (The PlayStation 3) and released for the latest one.
- It was the second Taiko no Tatsujin game to be released in two or more regions simultaneously, following V Version.
- The game was known for:
- The first Taiko no Tatsujin game to be released on a PlayStation home console since Doka! to Oomori Nanadaime on PlayStation 2 and the 4th game to be released on a 8th-generation home video game console, following Atsumete★Tomodachi Daisakusen! on Nintendo Wii U.
- The second Taiko no Tatsujin game to be released in Traditional Chinese since V Version, the second game to release in Korean since Don and Katsu's Space-time Adventure! and the second game to release in English since Taiko: Drum Master.
- The second Taiko no Tatsujin game to be released in North America since Taiko: Drum Master and the first to be released in Europe.
- Due to copyrights issues regarding the songs included in the game, the console's internal streaming system will mutes some of the songs from the streams.
- For reason unkonwn, Doraemon's voice will only played when the game is running in Japanese language.
