Professor Otowa (Japanese: 音羽博士, Otowa Hakase) is a recurring character in Taiko no Tatsujin series. He was introduced in Taiko no Tatsujin: Doka! to Oomori Nanadaime, although he first appear in the game manual for Taiko no Tatsujin: Doki! Shinkyoku Darake no Haru Matsuri.

He was originally known as Professor (Japanese: 博士, Hakase), before his name was revealed in Taiko no Tatsujin Wii: Do-Don to Nidaime!.

He is voiced by Takashi Nagasako in the series.

Biography

Appearance

Otawa has white hair, with the top of his head being bald. He also has the round nose with white mustache below it.

He is normally seen wearing the science researcher outfit.

Personality

While Otowa is mostly a nice person, he can be somewhat stubborn on something. He also has no true objective on whatever he is working on.

As seen in the Junji Ohno's manga, Otowa can be very selfish. This, combine with the fact that he has no objective on his works, makes him felt troubled as he modifiy Mecha-Don over and over again without any objectives.

Background

He is the head of the Municipal Wadaiko Laboratory and is the creator of the Mecha-Don robots.

In the series

Otowa, in the past, had researching the Taiko power together with Dr. Evil Lou. However the two soon seperated as Evil Lou stole Otowa's research data (As Evil Lou's own research isn't going well.) and went missing.

Otowa, as seen in Doka! to Oomori Nanadaime, wanted to send Mecha-Don to the end to space, but it seems that he has no true objective at all.

In Do-Don to Nidaime!, Otowa was surprised to find out that his former co-worker Evil Lou is doing evil things around the on-going festival.

In Junji Ohno's Taiko no Tatsujin manga, he was troubled about modifiying Mecha-Don without any objectives.
