Kodama (Japanese: こだま, Kodama) is a recurring character in the Taiko no Tatsujin series.

Biography[]

Appearance[]

Kodama has long black hair, five pearls on her head (Three in later games), a clear white Tenne scarf around her body, pair of sandals (depending on the game), and a red-orange kimono (also on the top it is yellow) in some games.

Personality[]

Kodama is a very cheerful person (also a little mischievous) who is very loyal to her friends such as Don and Co. though could be serious at times as in the cutscene before the ending to the original Taiko no Tatsujin Wii when she was trying to explain to Don the situation before she begins to take his soul away.

Background[]

Kodama is a Tennyo who stays in the Taiko world.

As revealed in Wii, she is the one who accidentally drop one of the souls (which later fused with a taiko drum and becomes Don) into the human world during one of her performances. She came to the human world and take Don's soul away for the sake of an upcoming festival in the Taiko world before the great soul returned him the year after.

In the series[]

Since her first appearance, she had been ocassionally appeared in subsequent Taiko no Tatsujin games.

Kodama also plays a small role as a mini-game host in Minna de Party Sandaime! and Chogouka-ban.

Do-Don to Nidaime![]

For unknown reasons, Kodama had came down to the human world and became an assistant to Professor Otowa in the Municipal Wadaiko Laboratory prior to the story proper. She is seen wearing the researcher outfit.

Kettei-Ban[]

In the game, Kodama serves as a teacher on the easy difficulty in Taiko Classroom mode.

Kodama introduce Don to her friends Fuga and Mirai inside the taiko classroom. All went well until Fuga and Mirai had a heated argument over their difference in taiko drum style, leading to Mirai storm out of the classroom. While Mirai is away, Kodama and Don forcefully remove Fuga's glasses despite his insistent of not taking it off, causing Arashi to manifest. Arashi escapes, and Kodama and Don quickly search for him. The two eventually found Arashi far away outside of the classroom, and put the glasses back on him and return him back to Fuga.

Since then, Kodama and Don had been keeping Fuga's secret from Mirai, but that doesn't last long when Mirai eventually found out about Fuga's connection to Arashi following the Taiko drum event. The two later explain everything to Mirai afterward.

Don and Katsu's Space-time Adventure[]

In the third DLC chapter, Fuga and Mirai's Uninhabited Island Classroom, Kodama, along with Fuga and Mirai, travel to the south island on a ship for vacation. The trio eventually got stranded in an uninhabited island when their ship got burned down because of Mirai taking off Fuga's eyeglasses (which in turn causing Arashi to manifested).

Kodama goes into the forest alone for some helps but to no avail. She later regroup with Fuga and Mirai, along with Don and Tocky, and find all the items needed of them to escape from the island, Just as they collected all items, a space-time distortion vortex suddenly appear out of nowhere and suck Kodama into it! Fortunately, Don and co. managed to destroy the vortex while rescued Kodama from it. Kodama feel dizzy after almost suck into the vortex, which led to Fuga goes to get some water for her. With both Fuga and Mirai are away, Kodama eventually tell both Don and Tocky on what caused them to be stranded.
