The song was included in the single record of the same name, which was released on April 21, 1979 under the King Record label. The song was composed by Takeo Watanabe, arranged by Yuuji Matsuyama and lyrics written by the creator of Gundam franchise, Yoshiyuki Tomino. (under the pen name Rin Iogi).
It was the opening theme song for the 1979 Sci-fi TV anime series Mobile Suit Gundam, produced by Sunrise and is the first entry in the long-running Gundam franchises. Tomino is also the creator of the franchise and is the director of the first TV anime series.
