Donko (Japanese: どん子, Donko) is a recurring character in Taiko no Tatsujin series.                  

Biography

Appearance

Donko is an anthropomorphic Shime Daiko taiko drum with a red face similar to Don's, but she has eyelashes. In some cases, she wears a Sakura flower accessory.

Depending on her feelings, her face can turn cyan.

Personality

Most of the time, Donko is lovely and kind. However, she will immediately become jealous and angry if she sees someone (especially if they're a female) together with Don (who is her love interest).

In Namco High, her personality is different than what she had in the Taiko no Tatsujin series. In here, she has a stereotypical "mean popular girl" personality. When Cousin met and asked her about the drum pun, Donko pretends to be rude and jokingly threatened them that she owns the school before quickly revealing that she's just kidding. On the inside, though, she is a nice person.

Background

Just like how Don and Katsu were born, Donko was originally a normal Shime-daiko until she was fused with a Tamashii from The Great Spirit.

It is unknown on how she developed a big crush on Don. She later followed the Taiko duo into Tokyo and has since been practicing her shinobue skill in order to participate in the festival.

In Namco High, it was revealed that she dumped Don for unknown reasons and usually refers to Don as her ex-boyfriend.

General

Donko usually appears as one of the standard dancers and appears in some mini games.

Taiko no Tatsujin Wii

Donko confronted Don (who had become a bosozoku-inspired delinquent) and the Dokon gang. She tried telling them to stop making loud noises around the town, but the delinquents didn't listen and made some excuses. This pushed her to the breaking point, as she proceeds to punch all four of them out of anger and sends them flying into the sky.

Do-Don to Nidaime!

Donko visits the Wadaiko Laboratory to meet Don, and as she arrived there, she met Alumi. Don accidentally angered Donko when he said that Alumi is honest and cute. Before Donko can do anything, she was punched by Alumi and was sent far away from the laboratory.

Donko visited Don and co. again at the festival, and reconciled with Alumi, having learned her mistake from the previous encounter.

Drum 'n' Fun!

Donko is one of the unlockable performance characters in the game. Her performance skill allows donders to hit the notes easier.

• "Don-chan you idiot!!" - said the angry and jealous Donko toward Don right before she was punched by Alumi and sent far away.
• "Please accept me!" - said the Giant Donko while chasing Don in the mini game 'Bakusou! Love Love Donko' in Taiko no Tatsujin: Wai Wai Happy! Rokudaime.
• "Excuse me?! Are you giving me ATTITUDE? Do you, like, even KNOW who I AM?! I'm Donko, and I own this school, LOSER!" - said Donko who later turned out to be joking about it towards Cousin on their first meeting.
